Hello friends
Last week I had the opportunity to attend a gathering at Amos and
Tsivik Kosta's home. They were hosting a rare visit by Amiram and
Beelha, who have entrenched themselves in Toronto, where they have
resided since the late 1980s. The planned social scope of their
visit was reduced by the poor health of Beelha's brother, who is
battling asbestos poisoning. From her account, the prospects are
rather grim. Other than that, their oldest daughter Anat has given
them a grandson, and the other two children, Inbal and Assaf are
either at university or immersed in academic careers.
Yafah was also present and I inquired about Mati and Cliff. I was saddened to
learn that Cliff died a year ago to cancer. Yafah told me that the couple had
divorced and Cliff's death occurred in Scotland. He was buried in England.
To jog people's memory, Cliff and Mati lived in Adamit in 1971-72. They were
from Dan, hence the Yafah connection. Mati, originally from Argentina, worked
with me and Yochanon on the grounds. Cliff managed the banana plantation and
was an avid lover of jazz.
I had occasion to bump into Cliff at Mapam functions in the early 1990s. I think
that at the time he was employed in Dan's organic citrus grove [citrus, is that
possible?].
In other more salubrious news, I learned that Adamit approved the sale of Metad,
their metal works factory to Amos and a former employee in a partnership.
